Our activities in 2023
Mother tongue teaching at four levels (grammar).
The association helps Arabic-speaking children, young people and adults to integrate into Swedish society by learning the Swedish language and Swedish terminology based on Arabic culture and language.
Homework help.
The association offers regular homework help, activities and educational opportunities for children, young people and adults who have difficulties in core subjects at school. We have trained teachers and pedagogues in various subjects. Homework help takes place once a week at ABF's premises.
January Yoga.
Physical activity is important for mental development and improved quality of life. At Ljusframtidens förening, we strive to promote health and follow health recommendations in Sweden. We invite our adult members to yoga training at Yogahuset Strängnäs.
Like February.
The future of light organized a baking day for children to bake together with their parents. It was both fun and educational, and the kids got to enjoy eating the delicious cookies they baked.
Lecture on Healthy Life March.
In collaboration with health and movement, the Light Future Association arranged a lecture with Sari Nieminen, health advisor, to inspire members to embrace a healthy lifestyle.
Yoump in Västerås April.
This activity aimed to promote cooperation and communication between the children and strengthen their sense of achievement as they faced and overcame challenges. In addition, the activity promoted the children's physical activity and general health through participation in sports and movement activities.
Easter activity April.
The association organized an Easter activity for children and teenagers together with their mothers. During an artistic session, they learned about Easter traditions and painted eggs together. The aim was to promote cultural understanding, strengthen family ties and reward participants with sweets and snacks.
Workshop on Recycling of Light May.
In order to contribute to saving resources and energy for future generations and reducing emissions of climate gases, the association arranged a workshop on recycling. We collected old candles and recreated them in new shapes, colors and scents.
Bowling for children and adults June.
To promote physical activity and at the same time create fun moments with family and friends, our association organized an evening of bowling where both adults and children were welcome to participate together.
Summer party June.
To promote family ties and community, Ljus Framtid arranged a summer party on Visholmen. We used resources from the Leisure Bank by borrowing exciting games to create a fun and memorable experience for all participants. In addition, we invited all participants to enjoy sausages, drinks and coffee.
Swimming February -July.
In order to promote the individual's self-esteem and self-confidence, which is one of our association's goals, Ljusframtiden's association invited mothers with their children to the swimming hall on two different occasions. The aim was to support and encourage them, especially mothers with a foreign background, to practice swimming and feel safe in the water.
Travel (Museums and historical sites) July-August.
Our association organized three trips to different museums to strengthen children's and young people's self-esteem and introduce them to different ways of living and communicating. We visited the National Museum of Natural History in Stockholm, Gripsholm Castle in Mariefred and Taxinge Castle in Nykvarn.
Mälardagen August.
Our association participated in this event to present our activities and goals as well as to attract and recruit interested individuals who want to get involved and contribute to our development.
Crafts (Necklaces, bracelets, earrings) September.
Ljus Framtiden arranged a craft evening for children where they could create their own bracelets, necklaces and earrings. It was a fun activity that promoted their creativity, patience and fine motor skills. In addition, older children in the association used these handmade jewelry to support the association's finances in the market, which also engaged the children in participating in decision-making.
Strängnäs Market October.
Our members actively participated in the market to present our association to the local population. We sold cookies, bracelets, necklaces and earrings to financially support the association and promote our various activities.
Night walk.
To increase the safety and well-being of the local community in the evenings and nights, our association collaborated with the municipality, Team Youth, Securité and the police to arrange regular night walks with association members and volunteers.
Christmas activity December.
Ljus Framtid förening coordinated the Christmas party in 2023 together with Strängnäs municipality at the ABF house. The event's goal was to increase understanding of Swedish culture in order to facilitate the participants' integration. We met all the children engaged in their studies and homework and distributed gifts and invited them to sweets and juice to celebrate their achievements.
